After a decade as a pillar of the Okanagan music scene, guitarist Sean Bray makes a highly anticipated return to his former stomping grounds for our February 26 performance at the Salmon Arm Jazz Club.
Now based in his hometown of Toronto, Bray’s absence has been deeply felt by local jazz enthusiasts. A graduate of New York’s Manhattan School of Music and named one of Canada’s top 50 guitarists by the CBC, Bray is renowned for a "warm, expressive style steeped in blues and melody" (All About Jazz).
For this special engagement, Bray will lead a powerhouse quartet featuring local favorites Craig Thomson (sax), Stefan Bienz (bass), and Scott Gamble (drums). The evening promises a sophisticated blend of beloved jazz standards and Bray’s own original compositions, which JazzTimes has lauded as "bristling with bluesy gait" and "note-bending."
