Askew’s Gift Card Fall Fundraiser Event
March 23 2026
The Jazz Club is starting another fundraiser using the gift card program that Askew’s offers for non-profit groups like ours. This is an effective way to support our concerts, and it costs you nothing in the long run. A huge thank you goes out to Doug Sonju who offered to coordinate this for us again this spring!
HOW IT WORKS — You can place your pre-paid order in three ways:
at the next two concerts at the Nexus on March 26 and April 9, 2026;
at Acorn Music no later than Friday April 17 – bring your cash/cheque and order form in a sealed envelop labeled JAZZ CLUB;
e-transfer to donations@jazzsalmonarm.com no later than Friday April 17 - be sure to include all the info requested on the order form in the eTransfer memo box.
Order forms will be available at the two concerts and at Acorn Music, or you can download and print directly from this PDF. Cheques should be made out to JAZZ SALMON ARM and can be post-dated to April 20.
We collect all the orders and consolidate them into one large order and purchase those cards at a 7% discount. If you buy $1000 worth of cards, you have pre-paid for that amount of groceries and, in effect, contributed $70 to the Salmon Arm Jazz Club! The cards are used like a debit card, with each purchase deducted from the balance until the money is used up.
Cards will be distributed at the April 23 concert at the Nexus. If you are unable to attend that concert, we will phone or email you to make another arrangement.
IMPORTANT DATES
March 26 and April 9 - concerts at Nexus where you may place orders;
April 17 - last day to drop off orders at Acorn Music or do an e-transfer;
April 23 - cards distributed at the concert at Nexus
If you have any questions, please call Doug at 250-546-6082, or e-mail at dougsonju@telus.net. Thank you very much for your continued support.
Nexus Piano Funding Goal Reached
November 26 2025
We have some great news to share regarding refurbishment of the Nexus piano. Jean MacLennan, First United Church Musical Director has just informed us that they had a flurry of donations this last weekend, including some very substantial contributions. As a result, funding support for this work has now crossed the finish line!
Jean asked that we reach out to our Jazz Club friends to let you know how grateful they are for your support. On behalf of First United and the Jazz Club team, thank you to everyone who donated! You have been instrumental in raising a large portion of the funds for this important work.
Going forward, the Yamaha’s last performance will be at the Men's Chorus concert on December 3. As soon as that concert is complete, the piano will be loaded and shipped to the coast where the refurbishment will take place. This will take several months, but fear not — another piano has been lined up to fill the void. The Shuswap District Arts Council has generously agreed to provide their Kawai grand piano as a stand-in until the Yamaha returns sometime next spring. The Kawai will be tuned and ready for us to test drive at our December 18 show, featuring Andrew Rasmussen and Jake McIntyre-Paul.
