R.J. Haney Heritage Village & Museum Jazz Night

  • R.J. Haney Heritage Village 751 British Columbia 97B Salmon Arm, BC Canada (map)

On Saturday, August 27, 2026, the Shuswap’s largest Heritage destination, R.J. Haney Heritage Village & Museum, is proud to partner with the Salmon Arm Jazz Club for an evening of jazz in the park! Enjoy a gourmet meal from the Village’s licensed Sprig of Heather restaurant and some of the finest jazz in the Shuswap.

Halfgrass is an instrumental improvisation-based string quintet with a penchant for wearing many musical hats. Occupying the liminal space somewhere between jazz and blue grass, they live up to their catch phrase: "Where Bluegrass Meets Jazz, Half Way". This onslaught of steel vibrations is led by a trio of versatile guitarists: Jake Verburg, Jordan Dick, and Blair Shier. Fuelled by a reverence for all things guitar and drawing influence from such legendary heroes of the instrument as Django Reinhardt, Wes Montgomery, Jimi Hendrix, Jim Hall, and Bill Frisell, the pickers of Halfgrass strike an ear pleasing balance between tradition and innovation. Rounded out by mandolinist, James Clark, and bassist, Dan Smith, Halfgrass use a genre-bending blend of modern jazz and traditional bluegrass vocabulary to explore new sonic landscapes and push the very boundaries of their own creativity and capabilities, all the while providing a novel auditory experience audiences won’t soon forget.
