This week, the Jazz Club dives into the origins of jazz with a performance by up and coming young blues star, Jake Soberlak.

Jake is a 17-year-old blues guitarist, harmonica player, singer, and songwriter from Kamloops who has quickly risen to prominence as one of Canada's most compelling young musical talents. Raised in a musical household, he began his journey by learning guitar from his father at age 13 and adding the harmonica a year later.

His profound passion for the genre was truly ignited when he discovered his grandfather’s vintage record collection, diving deep into the music of legends like B.B. King, Peter Green, and Eric Clapton. Known for an "old soul" performance style, Soberlak plays with a raw authenticity and emotional depth that critics note typically takes decades to master.

He recorded his highly anticipated debut album, I'm In Trouble, live-off-the-floor alongside a seasoned band at Afterlife Studios in Vancouver, was released on September 11, 2026 and is available online or at the show.

For this performance, Jake is joined by long time mentor and friend, Jake Verburg (guitar) and Brian Pratt-Johnson (drums), as well as others yet to be formally announced.
