The Salmon Arm Jazz Club celebrates the start of its seventeenth fall season with the band, Half Grass, on Thursday, September 11. The band features Jake Verburg (guitar), Jordan Dick (guitar), Blair Shier (guitar), James Clark (mandolin), and Dan Smith (bass).
This quintet of well-known local players blur the lines somewhere between bluegrass and contemporary jazz inspired by Bill Frisell’s ground breaking album, “Nashville”. If you saw last year's performance of Guitars Deluxe Edition, expect some similarities. This was one of the club's most requested call back performances.
Half Grass represents some of the very best of the wide circle of creative musicians who have gathered in the Shuswap through the jazz club collective over the last 16 years. Their genre-bending talents make for compelling and always surprising musical events.
