Len Aruliah Quintet

  • The Nexus at First 450 Okanagan Avenue East Salmon Arm, BC V1E 1E6 Canada (map)

Our second performance of the new season features Len Aruliah, a British-Canadian saxophonist and composer based in London, UK. Len frequently plays in London and Vancouver with his own quintet and has played with many prominent musicians and bands in the UK including the Bristol European Jazz Ensemble, Paul Weinreb, Gene Pitney, and the Hot Orange Big Band. He has recently toured across Europe and the UK with the Hackney Colliery Band.

Len’s studies at the Banff Centre with Canadian jazz giants, Hugh Fraser and Kenny Wheeler, who were central influences on his music and have inspired him to develop his own unique voice as an alto and soprano saxophonist and composer. Len’s music features memorably lyrical melodies and counterpoint, a wide variety of grooves and rhythmic styles, and a rich harmonic palette.

Len’s touring band features renowned Vancouver jazz musicians Joe Poole (drums), Nick Peck (piano), Allan Johnston (bass), and Len’s close collaborator of 35 years, Jared Burrows (guitar).

For more information, read a review of Len’s recent album “No Complications” in London Jazz News or check it out on Spotify.
